Etsy Offsite Ads, the 12% and 15% rates, and the cap

Offsite Ads, when they apply, are 15% or 12% of the same US revenue base as the transaction fee: item, buyer shipping, and gift wrap, without remitted sales tax. The reviewed policy caps that fee at $100 per order. Figures below were checked against the published policy pages on October 8, 2026. They illustrate one supported case. They are not an invoice.

Which rate applies is a shop question. The 12% tier follows the policy’s sales threshold over the prior 365 days, and it can remain after sales later drop below that threshold. One product price does not tell you the tier, and it does not tell you whether this order was attributed.

Attribution and the cap

Etsy’s policy describes an offsite click followed by an order within 30 days, with an exception when Etsy Ads was the last click. If you do not know whether that happened, compare the none, 12%, and 15% results. The calculator does not detect eligibility from the order total.

A $1,000 revenue base at 15% is $150.00 before the cap and $100.00 after it. Apply the cap after the multiplication, not instead of checking the rate.

Keep the other fees in the total

The Offsite fee does not replace the listing, transaction, or processing fees. On the $55 order the 15% case is an $8.25 Offsite fee on top of the $5.81 already calculated, for $14.06 of fees. Profit after the sample $26 of costs is $14.94. The 12% case leaves $16.59.

Common questions

Should I choose 12% or 15%?

Choose the tier that applies to your shop and to this attributed order. If you do not know, compare the scenarios. The tool cannot determine the tier from one price.

Is the Offsite fee capped?

The policy reviewed on October 8, 2026 caps it at $100 per order. A 15% fee on a $1,000 base is $150 before that cap and $100 after it.
